Meet the Witcher Forum!
Since I'm getting ready to spend countless hours in the world and lore of The Witcher, I decided to create a forum-based unofficial community about The Witcher universe. What's my reasoning? I have a good feeling about it. 🧐
Witcher Forum
Witcher Forum is an unofficial community forum for fans of The Witcher. It's a welcoming place to discuss the universe and lore of The Witcher franchise.
Why am I getting into The Witcher universe and lore?
My brother Sandor has been preaching about how amazing The Witcher games are for a few months. He even bought me The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition as a gift on Steam. Sandor believes I would enjoy The Witcher games. And after reading about them and watching all the official game trailers, I think he might be right. So, yes, I will give The Witcher games and its universe a chance. I talk about this here:
The Witcher
The Witcher is a series of six fantasy novels and 15 short stories by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The series revolves around the eponymous "witc" er," Ger" lt of Rivia. In SapkoSapkowski's, "with" ers" are "beast hunters who develop supernatural abilities to battle wild beasts and monsters at a young age.
The Witcher began with a titular 1986 short story that Sapkowski entered into a competition held by Fantastyka magazine, marking his debut as an author. Due to reader demand, Sapkowski wrote 14 more stories before starting a series of novels in 1994. Known as The Witcher Saga, he wrote one book yearly until the fifth and final installment in 1999. A standalone prequel novel, Season of Storms, was published in 2013.
The books have a cult following in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. They have been translated into 37 languages and sold over 15 million copies worldwide in December 2019. They have also been adapted into a film (The Hexer), two television series (The Hexer and The Witcher), a trilogy of video games (The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), and a graphic novel series. The video games have been even more successful, with over 50 million copies sold in May 2020.
